My day with Djae

Vroom! Vroom! Here comes my friend Djae! He is coming over for the day. When Djae came in we immediatly sprinted outside and jumped on the tramp. We stayed at my house for about a hour. My dad yelled "Time to go". We rushed to the car with a tickets because we were going to the movies.

We hopped in the car and drove to Hoyts. It was a long drive. Me and Djae was playing with the radio when we saw a guy dancing on the side of the road it was really funny.

Finally we arrived. We went in and bought our food. We both had a large coke it was massive! We also had a large popcorn and two ice-cream cones covered with chocolate. It was delicus! My mum had to help us to our seats because we had so much stuff. The movie took for ever  to come on!  When the movie was finished me and Djae could not stop talking about it.

My top three favorite parts were when Percy destroys the giant warrior! My second favorite part was when Percy surfed on a wave, it was awsome! My final favorite part was when they used a cannon to get out of the gigantic sea monsters stomach! The movie was AWSOME!!!

Afterwards we walked outside and wait for my dad, we didn't wait to long. When me and Djae hopped in the car my dad announced we were going to... Dominos!!! Me and Djae both yelled... Pizza!!! For the whole ride long. Once we got home  me and Djae both grabbed a piece of pizza. We both had five slices each.It was yummy.

After we ate Djae had to go home we had a awesome time. I hope we can do it again?

Geometry-3D shapes

Stage 2
Geometry Learning Intention
I am learning to recognise and describe 3D shapes using mathematical language.

Success Criteria
I know I will be successful when I:

  • identify 3D objects
  • sort 3D objects into categories
  • explain what faces, edges and corners are
  • describe faces, edges and corners of 3D objects

My Reflection

I.A.L.T link both implicit and explicit ideas in the text to give a greater understanding of the story.

I found this piece of work easy because I had a good idea of what implicit  and explicit information.
My next step is to try something more tricky.

Maths Olympid

On Thursday I went to my school auditorium because I was part of the Maths Olympiad team for my class. When we got there all the tables were set up. After all the classes came it was time for the maths olympiad. We had to answer 20 questions in 30 minutes. But after 12 mins My team of James, Jade and Khushnas won with a total of 100 points. We won. It was kinda hard with every body shouting.

Fire and Water poem

I have written an antonym diamante poem.
It is about fire and water.

A cup of Koko

I have been learning to make and justify inferences.  I read a story called A cup of Koko from School Journal Part 2, Number 3 1998.  Here is my evidence and reflection.

Subtraction Maths Goal

My Maths goal

I am learning to learn more about subtracting.

Success Criteria
I know I will be successful when I
·       use the reversing strategy when it is the easiest way
·       explore the equal addition strategy and explain why it works so well in some subtraction problems
·       explain my thinking with equipment, an empty number line, and mental strategies

Caleb and the beanstalk

Caleb and the Beanstalk
Long long ago there lived were two small houses on the side of a hill and there lived Caleb and his best friend Djae. Caleb was a normal boy who  dreamed of  adventure and Djae was a powerful wizard.

One very hot day they went to go and sell Caleb’s horse, at least that‘s what Caleb’s grandma told him.   About halfway down the hill they came across an ugly old man.

He said, “That is a magnificent horse I will  trade horse him for these magic peas.”

Caleb said “`YES!’’ because Djae was magic after all but nobody knew besides Caleb. So Caleb took them.

Caleb asked Djae “Can you fly us home?”

“Yes”  Djae whispered. “Up we go!”.

When they got home Caleb shouted “Grandma! Grandma!”

“What is it dear?” she said in a squeaky voice.

”I have brought you magic peas.”

She screamed “Magic peas! Magic peas! Magic is not real boy! Now go to your room!”

While Caleb went to his room grandma angrily planted the peas to see if they could grow.  When grandma was done Caleb called out “Djae! Djae!” Djae arrived and Caleb told him about the plan to see  if the peas could grow into something big.
“We will look first thing in the morning“ Caleb whispered into Djaes small ear.

In the morning Djae finally arrived, tired as always. “So lets start “ Caleb quietly said. “WOW! look how much it grew over night!” Caleb said in shock. “Lets climb it” announced Caleb in a deep voice.

So they climbed and they climbed for three days straight. Finally they reached the top where they saw the smallest house they‘ve ever seen. It was made out of brick and coal.

There was sixteen fierce dwarves that had teeth as sharp as swords ,flaming red eyes and a hat as sharp needle. They  were hunting a deer with light brown fur with white  spots. One dwarf jumped  off a dirty rock on to the deer. It’s teeth sank into the flesh and the rest of the dwarves held it down. They carried it in the house where Caleb and Djae saw there were even more dwarves.

Caleb and Djae went inside the house very cautiously. The dwarves were all sleeping and snoring loudly. The deer was cooking very slowly. There were lots of clothes and dirty socks. It smelt awful.

One of them woke up. He  yelled “Wake up! Wake up!” to his friends out loud. The dwarves chased Caleb and Djae into the dark scary forest.

Djae built Caleb a sword. Djae was going to use his  magic powers, but when the dwarves came back they had turned into bears, wolves, lions and tigers. Djae used his powers to slay the beasts and Caleb used his sword, that was as thin as thread. Finally the dwarves gave up and gave Caleb and Djae all their gold for their bravery. The dwarves were so tired they fell asleep. They snored like lions roars.

Caleb and Djae became the richest people in all the land and you can be sure they lived happily ever after!

This is my Maori god Tane he is god of the forest. We have drew it then vivid and then coloured in pastel. It was fun to learn about the gods.

My Te Tuhi drawing

This is a pictrue of me that I painted at Te Tuhi of my self. My school is at the back round. I felt great because we used lots of things to paint and draw.

White Tailed Spiders

My Reading Reflection

I have been learning to find information and summarise in a non-fiction text.  My reading group read a book about white - tail spiders.  We created a slide show about what we have learnt.  I found it easy to find information in google  because I could just put research on the side of my work.  One thing I did well was writing my work in my own words.  Next time I need to work on writing down the main bit and not all the information.

My fractions learning

This is my maths goal.

Stage 5/6
Fractions Goal
I am learning to add and subtract fractions with a common denominator.
I know that I can do this when:
I can add and subtract the numerators together
I can recognise that the denominator doesn’t change if the fractions have a common denominator

My maths reflection
I have been to add and subtract fractions with the same denominator. I learnt that it is just normal adding and subtracting but leaving the same denominator. I found this easy because it is the same thing as adding and subtracting. My next step is to add and subtract fractions with a different denominators.
